The Norton boys finished a highly commendable 8th in the CERS Euro Cup in France. Made up of U16 and U18 players, most of whom were thrown in at the last moment, they took on the best of Europe made up of mainly Senior players and all the foreign teams drafted in Internationals for this tournament, something the British teams dont do. Well done lads, the club is extremel proud of you. Thanks go to sarah Finney as well for taking over the organisation and making sure that they were all looked after out there.

We are very pleased to be welcoming The Northern Cyclones to play some friendly matches against our U10 and U12 squads. The Northern Cyclones are one of Northern Irelands most succesful clubs and are making the trip to Rotherham over the weekend of 25/26th October to coincide with the Sheffield Steelers double header with the Belfast Giants. Truly a clash of The Cyclones!!!!. More details will be posted on here or they can be obtained from either Sean Ibrahim or Kelly Coles. We will hopefully be making the return trip to Northern Ireland at some point in the future to play them on their home rink.

The U21's rounded off a fantastic season for the club with 2nd place in the BIPHA U21 Nationals. Defeat by the Warriors in the final was softened by the fact that Craig Bradfield was top netminder and Craig, Steve Cross and Nathan Finney were all voted into the Dream Team.
3/8/08
Congratulations go to Rob, Sarah and all the U14 team on a superb win in the BIPHA U14 Nationals today. After easily winning their group games, they had a monumental game in the semi against Brighton with a golden goal giving them a hard earned victory. This set up a final against Central rivals Killamarsh who were deapatched in a 5-2 victory. Young Bradley Day was voted onto the Dream Team and Miles Finney came out as Top Netminder. Fantastic achievement guys and galls. Lets hope the U21's can bring another title home this weekend.
27/7/08
Well, can it get any better for our U18 squad. Quite a few of the have just returned from the FIRS World Championships in Philladelphia where they helped the BIPHA GB U18 team win its first ever World Championships, then they won the AAU U18 International tournament and now they have won the BIPHA U18 Nationals. Quite a month for them. Congratulations from all at the club go to Shaun and Ryan and all the team who beat the Warriors in the final 5-3. The whole weekend was capped off with Steve Cross and Nathan Finney being voted onto the Dream Team.
23/6/08
Congratulations go to Denise, Jubby and all the Senior players on an outstanding performance this weekend in wining the BIPHA Senior Nationals. They did it the hard way as well, having to play during the course of the weekend all the teams that reached the semi-finals. The wins over Hornets in the semi and Warriors in the final were especially sweet. Well done guys, you have done the club proud. Well done o Nathan Finney for finishing Top Points scorer after yet another outstanding display.
13/5/08
Everyone at Norton wish U16 player Jake Tinker a speedy recovery after breaking his hand at the weekend. We also wish young Declan O'Mara a swift recovery from his similar breakage. Whilst not strictly a Norton player, Dec was a major player in the highly successful UK Cyclones team that played in NARCH this year.

These games are an ideal way for new players to sample inline hockey without the pressure of the "game" situation.

With the BISHA Ball season about to get underway for the Youth and Peewee players, remember that all players must have proper body armour, not the Tour vest, a neck guard and a manufactured rubber butt end. Netminders must have a goalie neck guard.

IMPORTANT INFO FROM SKATE CENTRAL
We are trying to improve our facilities generally and it seems that for every step forward we are taking two steps backwards because of the attitude of players, their managers and parents.
We are constantly having to repair damage done by players who continue to practice in the changing rooms and around the outside of the rink and to my total amazement in front of their managers and parents.
This sort of behaviour has to stop and it is for this reason that we areadopting a zero tolerance approach to this behaviour and the offending players will be asked to leave the rink even if they have games to play
I will be posting notices around the rink and on match days every player will be given a leaflet explain the consequences if they are caught playing hockey of any description, anywhere off the rink.
I sincerely hope that you will support us with this problem, because if we cannot solve it, we may have to consider not having any hockey at the rink in future.

The Senior ball team started the BISHA season off with a fine win in the season opener tournament. Wins over Pinegrove Pythons,West Coast Wasps and Cardiff Panthers in the final set the scene for what should be an entertaining season. New boy Tom Hunt, between the pipes, also walked off with the Top Netminder Award, Richard Tilley and Ryan Shelton made the Dream Team and Richard Tilley was Top Points winner.
21/1/08
Confirmation has come through today that Skate Central will remain at Queens Rd for the foreseable future and contrary to rumours will not be returned to an ice rink. All in all its good news for inline hockey.

Nice to see Ryan Gee back with us after his stay in the USA. Rumours that he was staying in Guantanamo Bay Hotel are grossly exaggerated. America's gain is Norton's loss, or should that be the other way round? Anyway, welcome home Ryan.
